The Sashastra Seema Bal’s (SSB) Intelligence has revealed a big plot to push Covid suspects into India through Nepal in Bihar’s West Champaran (Betiah) and Narkatiaganj districts.

Now, Bettiah District Magistrate Kundan Kumar has alerted the SPs and other officers of border districts, it is learnt.

In the letter dated April 3, a copy of which is with The Tribune, the SSB informed the DM that one Jalim Mukhiya was behind this entire operation. “As per sources, around 200 Indian Muslims, along with 5-6 Pakistani nationals, are lodged in Nepal mosques. More will arrive soon. They are consuming paracetamol tablets for lowering temperature,” the letter further read.

SSB Director General Kumar Rajesh Chandra said both India and Nepal were jointly taking steps to ensure the sanctity of the border.

Talking to a news agency in Patna, Bihar Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani said the police and the MHA had been informed.

Shah for more vigil

New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting with the BSF and MHA officials, asking the security force to step up vigil on the Pakistan and Bangladesh borders besides educating people on Covid. Special vigil is to be kept along the unfenced area, he said. tns
