Covid death toll reaches 29 in Ludhiana district

Ludhiana, July 9
A 75-year-old man from Partap Chowk died of Covid-19 at Christian Medical College and Hospital today. He was also suffering from prostate cancer, a heart ailment and diabetes. With his death, the Covid toll in Ludhiana district has gone to 29. Besides, Payal SDM Mankanwal Singh Chahal and the driver of ADC (G) have also tested positive.
A Covid patient from Sangrur breathed his last at Oswal Hospital.
Meanwhile, the reports of 58 samples taken from administrative personnel have come negative. After the ADC (G), the Khanna SDM and the Jagraon ADC, the Payal SDM is the fourth high-ranking official from the Ludhiana Administration to test positive for Covid. The ACP (North) had died fighting the virus.
Today, 50 more tested positive, which include a 30-year-old head constable of the Division No. 7 police station and four persons from the Central Jail.
Two pregnant women from Dhandari Khurd and Vishwakarma Colony, Dholewal, were found infected.
A number of infected persons with influenza-like illness are from Gopal Nagar, Tibba Road, BRS Nagar, Field Ganj, Parbhat Nagar in Miller Ganj, Model Town, Rajguru Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Model Gram, Sunrise on Pakhowal Road, Vikas Nagar, Dhandari Khurd and Peer Khanna Road.
A 27-year-old healthcare worker from Kartar Nagar on Tibba Road has contracted virus. Other testing positive for the Covid include eight from Khanan, four from BRS Nagar and two from Tibba Road.
