The city today reported 114 new coronavirus cases, the biggest single-day spike yet.

An 82-year-old man from Burail died of the virus at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, last night, making him the 30th fatality of the UT. He died of respiratory failure due to a complex lung injury that the infection had caused.

The coronavirus tally of the city has now reached 2,216. About 45 per cent of the cases are still active. The new cases have been reported from Sector 7, 38, 4, 35, 45, 48, 34, 27, 49, 15, 63, 50, 23, 42, 14, 49, 44, 40, 37, 22, 10, 12, 23, 33, 47, 19, 50, 26, 20, 41, 38 (West), 52, 32, 29, Khuda Ali Sher, Ram Darbar, Mani Majra, Behlana, Mauli Jagran, Daria, Dadu Majra, Khuda Lahora, Dhanas,Hallo Majra, Behlana, Industrial Area and Kishangarh.
