A woman fell prey to Covid, while 30 persons tested positive for it in the district today. With this, the total number of positive patients in the district has gone up to 24,486 and the number of fatalities has reached 953.

Today, 2,436 RTPCR samples were sent for testing to a laboratory.

Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said out of the pending reports of the suspected patients, 45 had been confirmed cases of Covid and out of these, 15 were related to other districts or states.

Three deaths were reported from the virus, with one from Ludhiana and one each from Hoshiarpur district and Jammu.

The patient from the city who lost the battle to the virus was an 80-year-old woman from Hargobind Nagar who was also suffering from a chronic kidney disease (CKD).

From among the patients testing positive for Covid-19, five were contacts of infected persons, eight were from OPDs, 15 from ILI (flu corner), while the tracing of one person was in progress and one was an international traveller.

He added that 3,605 positive cases were brought for treatment here from other districts/states and the number of deaths from other places had reached 439.

Till now, 5,19,264 samples (RTPCR, Antigen, Trunat) of suspected patients were sent for testing, reports of 5,19,264 were received and reports of 1,932 samples was awaited. As many as 23,085 patients had recovered. Dr Bagga said out of the 416 active cases reported till yesterday, 348 were in home isolation, 55 were admitted in private healthcare institutions and 13 were in government hospitals.

He made a fervent appeal to the people to strictly follow precautions against coronavirus and abide by guidelines of the government in their own interest and larger interests of society.
