3 more succumb to Covid, 46 new cases in Ludhiana

Covid-19 has claimed the lives of three more persons in the district during the past 24 hours. Besides, 46 fresh cases have been reported from the district on Wednesday.
The Health Department confirmed 63 cases today. Of them, 46 patients belong to Ludhiana and 17 from other districts or states. As per information, nine patients of Ludhiana came in contact with positive patients, eight visited the OPD and 24 with influenza-like illness visited the flu corner. Besides, five other persons, including a health worker, has tested positive for the virus.
Bank branch ‘shut down’ due to Covid
A number of visitors were forced to return without getting their works done as a bank branch in Haibowal remained closed on Wednesday after staff members were reportedly found to be positive for Covid. A visitor said a poster had been placed outside a branch of a government bank in Haibowal saying it is closed due to ‘Covid-positive staff’.
Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga confirmed four deaths, including three patients from Ludhiana and one from Moga. The deceased from Ludhiana district were a 32-year-old man from Chak Kalan village, a 68-year-old man from Jandiali village and a 37-year-old man from Phase 2, Focal Point. A total of 842 patients from Ludhiana district and 329 from other districts or states have died of the virus here till date.
As per information, till date, 3,96,802 samples have been taken. Of which, reports of 3,95,262 samples have been received in which 3,71,932 samples were found negative while results of 1,540 samples were pending.
A total of 1,428 samples were collected today. At present, 10 patients, including five from Ludhiana and five from other districts or states, are on ventilator. The district administration appealed to residents to follow all directions of the state government to keep themselves and others safe.
