Coronavirus: With 21 new cases, Himachal count reaches 330

Solan, Dharamsala report new cases, all returnees from other states

Himachal Pradesh on Sunday reported 21 new cases of coronavirus, taking the state’s case tally to 330.

Solan and Kangra were among those that reported new COVID-19 cases.

Solan reported the four new cases of the deadly disease, taking the total in the district to 30. Two men, aged 19 and 35, who had come from Rewari in Haryana, have tested positive. They were among 16 people who had been hired from Riwari by Banalgi-based Himalayan Cotton Yarn industry, after taking special permission from the Deputy Commissioner on May 23. They were staying inside the factory and it would pave way for its closure, said health officials.

A 28-year-old man in Parwanoo, who was under institutional quarantine, has also tested positive.

Another 27-year-old man from Tirla village in Nalagarh has also tested COVID-positive. He was under home quarantine, said officials of the health department.

Their contact tracing has been initiated and they were being shifted to the ESIC COVID hospital, Katha, in Barotiwala.

There are 21 active cases in the district while 9 have been cured. All 21 people found COVID-positive had returned from other states in the recent past.

Kangra reported seven more COVID-19 cases, taking total number of corona positive cases in the district to 86. A 30-year-old man from Dari near Dharamshala, a 51-year-man from village Sandu in Shahpur tehsil and his 17-year-old son, a 47-year-male and his 9-year- son from village Kulhan near Nurpur, a toddler in Nurpur’s Mijhgran village and a 27-year-old man from Bari village in Khundian tehsil tested positive on Sunday.

All seven came back from Delhi on May 27 and were since put inder institutional quarantine in Jawalamukhi.

They will now be moved to a COVID containment center Baijnath.

The state now has 212 active cases.
