The Panchkula police on Tuesday arrested a youth, hailing from Ferozepur, with heroin. Giving information, a police spokesperson said the arrested accused was identified as 23-year-old Shivam, alias Vishal, son of Peepal Singh, resident of Basti Shekhanwali, Ferozepur, Punjab, currently a tenant at the AKS Colony in Zirakpur.

The spokesperson said they received information about Shivam smuggling contraband, on the basis of which, under the leadership of Inspector Dalip Singh, his team arrested the youth who was at the time riding an Activa at a distance of 100 meters from thr Morni T-point. On searching him, the police officials found 26.69 grams of heroin and Rs 400 cash from him. On questioning, the accused could not produce any licence etc. After which a case was registered against him at the Chandimandir police station under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. The accused was produced at the court, which sent him to a three-day police remand.
