Cop delaying FIR despite court orders in fraud case: Doctor
A city-based doctor, Sumeet Sofat, alleged that despite the Judicial Magistrate First Class directed the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Division 5, to register a case on the charges of criminal conspiracy, fraud and forgery against a woman, the police official is least bothered.
“The court has issued orders in this regard on August 17 and now, several days have been passed. But the SHO is adopting a dilly-dallying attitude by not registering a case. I have been visiting the police station frequently to enquire about the status of my case but police officials are only making hollow promises. I have also sent a complaint to the DGP, Punjab, and the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, yet nobody is bothered to register a case. I suspect some politicians are also exerting pressure on the police in my case,” Dr Sofat alleged.
He said the suspect had tried to usurp his plot, the value of which was in crores of rupees, situated in Sunet village by committing forgery and adopting other fraud tactics. After fighting a case in the court, he managed to procure orders for registration of a case.
When the SHO, inspector Vijay Kumar, was asked why he was not ensuring compliance of the court orders, he said he could not ignore the court orders. In fact, the FIR was not registered as nowadays he was on leave. In a day or two, the case would be registered.
