After finding poor quality of ‘prasad’ prepared at a shop run by temple trust, the district administration has decided to train cooks. The ‘prasad’ sold at the shop of the trust was found stale and declared not fit for eating by the health authorities.

It is learnt that Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh has convened a meeting and advised officers to ensure compliance with the procedure for procuring raw material and preparation of ‘rotes’ served as ‘prasad’ in the temple. The ‘rotes’ are prepared by wheat flour mixed with sugar and desi ghee or vegetable oil. The shelf life of this ‘rote’ is usually longer than the normal food products.

Meanwhile, the temple trust authorities have initiated investigation into the matter.

The Deputy Commissioner said any adulteration in the preparation of temple ‘prasad’ would not be tolerated and guilty would be dealt with strictly. He said special training would be given to cooks in government and private shops at Deotsidh. Regular checks would be conducted so that devotees get fresh ‘rotes’ and meals in the temple.
