Constable among five held for seeking Rs 1crore ransom
The Gurugram police arrested five accused, including a Delhi Police constable, for kidnapping a youth who was a share trader and his friend. They demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the family. While rescuing the youths, the police recovered a car, bike and a bag from the accused.
As part of a trap laid by the police to nab the accused, a clash ensued between the accused and the police team when the accused tried to snatch the bag of money containing the ransom amount. In the ensuing melee, a sub-inspector Sumit Kumar, in-charge of crime branch Palam Vihar, suffered a fracture in his hand.
According to the police, on Wednesday, a man approached the police that his son, Aman (21), and his friend, Ganesh, had gone to Galleria Market, Gurugram, in their Scorpio car and were missing since then. Their phones were also switched off.
The complainant added that at around 3:30 pm, another friend of his son called him and informed him that he had received a call from Aman. He disclosed that Aman had told him that some people had kept Aman and Ganesh hostage and were demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore. The kidnappers threatened to kill them if the ransom was not paid.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station and a joint police team was formed. The police team laid a trap today and finally arrested all the five accused and rescued the youths from their clutches.
According to the police, the arrested accused were identified as Delhi police constable Sunil (32), a resident of Khareti village in district Jind; Rishipal (35) of village Aawli in Sonepat; Kuldeep alias Monu (31) of Intal Kalan village in Jind, Deepak alias Dumble (21) of Mokhra village in Rohtak and Sonu (21), a resident of Dinod village in Bhiwani.
The accused Rishipal and Sunil were arrested from the Sector 37-D area while the other three were arrested near Amar colony, Pataudi road. “During police interrogation, the accused revealed that the accused Sunil is a Delhi Police constable. The accused had conducted a recce before kidnapping Aman,” said Varun Dahiya, ACP crime.
