Congress workers, led by the party’s district vice-president Sudhir Bhadoo, held a protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his controversial remarks against Dr BR Ambdekar, at the Sitto Gunno sub-tehsil terminal in the Balluana constituency here today.
They shouted slogans against the minister and burnt his effigy.
Bhadoo and Mahila Congress activist Rajinder Kaur of Rajpura village said BJP leaders had no respect for Dalits. The saffron party leaders, instead of regretting the remarks, were trying to defend Shah and blaming Congress stalwarts, they added, while seeking a public apology by the minister for hurting the sentiments of the Dalit community across the country.
