Congress wins three, INLD secures two seats in Sirsa district
In the Assembly elections, the Congress emerged victorious in three out of five seats in Sirsa district, while the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured two seats. The people of Sirsa gave the Congress control over Sirsa, Ellenabad, and Kalanwali (reserved) seats, while Rania and Dabwali went to the INLD-BSP alliance.
In Sirsa, Congress candidate Gokul Setia won by a margin of 7,234 votes. Setia received a total of 70,020 votes, defeating Gopal Kanda, supported by the INLD and the BSP, who secured 71,786 votes. Pawan Sherpura of the JJP trailed with 1,762 votes, while Independent candidate CA Darvesh Swami received 1,182 votes. AAP’s Shyam Mehta garnered 853 votes, and 1,115 voters chose the NOTA option.
The Rania seat saw INLD’s Arjun Chautala win by 4,228 votes. Arjun Chautala received 43,719 votes, defeating Congress’ Sarvmitter Kamboj, who got 39,491 votes. Former jail and electricity minister Ranjit Singh, who contested as an Independent, finished third with 36,313 votes. BJP’s Shishpal Kamboj came fourth with 15,622 votes.
In Kalanwali, Congress’ Shishpal Keharwala secured a landslide victory, by winning 22,959 votes. He received 66,728 votes, while the BJP candidate came second by winning 43,769 votes. INLD’s Gurtej Singh trailed by 24,200 votes. AAP’s Jasdev Singh and Gurjant Singh garnered 3,629 and 1,405 votes, respectively, while 852 voters selected NOTA.
In Ellenabad, Congress’ Bharat Singh Beniwal achieved a major win over INLD’s Abhay Chautala, a four-time MLA. Beniwal secured 77,865 votes, defeating Chautala, who got 62,865 votes. BJP candidate Amirchand Mehta came third by securing 13,320 votes, while JJP’s Anjani Ladha and AAP’s Manish Arora received 1,593 and 885 votes, respectively. NOTA was chosen by 545 voters.
In Dabwali, INLD’s Aditya Devilal Chautala won by a narrow margin of 610 votes. He secured 56,074 votes, defeating the incumbent MLA Amit Sihag, who got 55,464 votes. JJP’s Digvijay Singh Chautala was third with 35,261 votes, while BJP’s Baldev Singh Mangeana received 7,139 votes. AAP’s Kuldeep Singh Gadrana finished by securing 6,606 votes, and 856 voters opted for NOTA.
