Launching a scathing attack on the Congress party and leaders, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, predicted that it would be wiped out by the 2029 elections, both in Haryana and the country. “The people of Haryana have not forgotten Congress’s corrupt governance. Their policy was to increase corruption and not provide basic amenities to the people. Even Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has advised them against making false promises, but the Congress’s approach has been to deceive the public to gain power, then neglect them. In 2029, the Congress will be nowhere to be found –neither in the state nor at the Centre,” said Saini while interacting with mediapersons on the sideline of a programme organised at Prem Nagar, where senior Congress leader Harjeet Sandhu, aka Laddi Sandhu, joined the BJP. Sikh leader Angrej Singh Pannu also joined the BJP. Saini welcomed Harjeet Sandhu and Angrej Singh Pannu into the party fold and assured him that he would get full respect in the party.

Sandhu also presented a traditional turban to the CM and assured him that he would work actively for the welfare of the party.

On being asked about rejoining of party’s rebels in the BJP, Saini said BJP leadership would consider each case and senior leaders would evaluate if any regretful former members could rejoin.

On the issue of stubble burning, Saini emphasised the seriousness of the Supreme Court’s stance on pollution and Haryana’s commitment to stubble management. “We have implemented various plans for stubble management in Haryana and we have urged both farmers and the administration to make agricultural machinery available for stubble management. Burning stubble harms the fields and the public,” he added.

Regarding the recent formation of an eight-member Congress committee to analyse their losses, Saini said, “Every party conducts such reviews with its own perspective. Congress has analysed both wins and losses, but the people of Haryana have responded to their intentions.”

On the issue of extortion calls to traders in the state, the CM said they would not tolerate such acts. “We have already directed police officials to take stringent steps to check such crime,” said Saini.

He also responded on the issue of the Haryana Assembly Session from November 13 and said it would be the first session of the new government. He said that several public-focused bills would be introduced in the session. He refused to comment on the civic bodies elections.

Later, the CM also participated in the Chhath Puja Western Yamuna Canal and extended greetings to people on the occasion.
