Congress threatens to sue Kangana for defamation
Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut and controversy go hand in hand. She has sparked a controversy by claiming that the “Himachal Government takes loan and then diverts it to Sonia Gandhi”.
The Himachal Congress is furious and the party leaders are threatening to file a defamation case against her. “The party will file a defamation case against her if she doesn’t back her absurd claim with documentary evidence or seeks an apology,” said Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh here today. The livid minister went to the extent of calling Kangana “less educated” and her statement “idiotic”.
“There can’t be a more idiotic statement than this. It reflects her intellectual bankruptcy. She is not well educated and this gets reflected in her statements time and again,” Vikramaditya said.
Kangana made the allegation while interacting with mediapersons in Manali. She accused the Congress government of destroying the state and said, “the government takes loans and gives that money to Sonia Gandhi. And even if we get disaster relief from the Central Government, it will end up with Sonia Gandhi. There’s a conspiracy to destroy the state.”
HPCC president Pratibha Singh was also upset over the Mandi MP’s allegation. “Can someone in his or her right mind think that the money coming from the Centre will go to Sonia Gandhi? The statement is unfortunate and shows her mentality,” she said.
Kaul Singh, a senior Congress leader, said that Kangana should not be taken seriously. “In the past, she has said that India got independence after 2014 and Subhas Chandra Bose was the first Prime Minister of India. She is in a habit of making ridiculous statements and hence she should not be taken seriously,” he added.
Meanwhile, Vikramaditya said that the BJP should also take cognisance of her statement. “The BJP has already told her not to speak on sensitive issues but she seems uncontrollable,” he added.
