Congress stand on Adani vindicated: Warring
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today said the indictment of Gautam Adani by the US government vindicated the Congress stand and charges against the Adani Group.
He said the development vindicated the Congress party’s ‘Hum Adani ke hain kaun’ campaign, which raised 100 questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s close relationship with the tycoon.
“It is evident that the institutions tasked with investigating white-collar crime — SEBI, the Enforcement Directorate, the CBI and the Income Tax Department — have not only failed to investigate Adani despite credible allegations, but have also seen their few probes halted by orders from the higher authorities,” he pointed out.
He alleged that these agencies had instead been misused to facilitate acquisition of airports, ports, media companies, and cement plants by Adani. “The agencies have also been weaponised to target Opposition politicians, dismantle their parties, and imprison their Chief Ministers,” he said.
On his expectations a day ahead of the result of the four Assembly elections tomorrow, Warring said, “I don’t want to say 4-0 like the ‘13-0’ rant of CM Bhagwant Mann Mann ahead of the last Lok Sabha elections. But I am confident that we shall be performing well.”
