Congress and BJP leaders continue to trade barbs at one another even after the installation of a BJP regime in Haryana and the Congress emerging as the biggest opposition party in the state.

Former Haryana Cooperatives Minister and BJP leader Manish Grover had recently accused Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a former CM, of oppressing Dalits and Backward Classes.

Now, a former state finance minister and BJP leader, Capt Abhimanyu, has targeted Hooda, stating that the Congress had lost the recent elections to the Haryana Assembly due to the arrogance of its leaders and monopoly of one family.

“Certain Congress leaders had become very arrogant before the elections. But the people of Haryana, who had witnessed the Congress rule earlier, knew quite well that corruption and nepotism prevailed at that time. Hence, they showed the mirror to the Congress leadership,” Abhimanyu said in an apparent attack on Hooda at a media interaction here today.

In response to a query, the former minister maintained that the delay in the election of the Leader of Opposition indicated the lack of coordination among Congress leaders. The BJP leader remarked that the Congress was riddled with factionalism and infighting, while the BJP observed an inclusive approach.

Capt Abhimanyu asserted that peace had been established in Jammu and Kashmir after the abolition of Article 370 by the Modi government, but certain anti-national elements were talking about its reinstatement.

Talking to mediapersons later in the day, the Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Singh Hooda, said the BJP had won the elections by employing dirty tricks and violating poll ethics, electoral procedure and the model code of conduct with impunity.

“They (BJP) used all sorts of tricks — ‘saam, daam, dand and bhed’ — to win the election by hook or by crook. They made a mockery of the entire election process,” he alleged. He said the vote percentage of the Congress and the BJP was almost equal and the state had got a strong opposition in the Congress, which had won 37 seats.

“We will raise the voice of the people in the Assembly,” he asserted.
