Congress leader’s son arrested for firing at friend in Mohali

Mohali, June 19
The Sohana police have arrested Davinder Singh, alias Damni, son of a Congress leader, for allegedly firing at his 22-year-old friend in an inebriated condition on June 16.
The suspect was produced in a local court today, which sent him to one-day police remand. Earlier, he was tested for Covid. His report will come tomorrow.
Sub-Inspector Barma Singh said, “We arrested Damni late on Thursday from Manauli village when he was planning to flee. We had sought his remand from the court to investigate the actual cause of firing.”
On June 16, Damni fired two bullets on victim Jagdeep’s back and chest with his father’s licensed 12-bore gun, leaving the victim seriously injured.
A case of attempt to murder was registered at the Sohana police station. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered by
the police.
