Congress leaders Partap Singh Bajwa, Balbir Singh Sidhu, slam AAP govt over ‘poor’ law & order
Senior Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa today slammed the AAP government over ‘deteriorating’ law and order in the state.
Addressing the large gathering during a protest demonstration organised under his leadership outside the DSP office in Sector 79 here today, Sidhu said over recent months, there had been a disturbing rise in violent crimes. Sidhu said last month, the state witnessed 20 killings. He said Bhagwant Mann has terribly failed as Chief Minister.
He said criminals like Lawrence Bishnoi were operating from within jails and gangsters such as Landa Harike were handling crime network from abroad. Even leaders from the ruling party are not immune, as evidenced by the murder of AAP kisan wing leader Tarlochan Singh on September 10.
There was a rise in thefts across the state, particularly in Mohali, he added.
Bajwa also attacked the AAP government. He alleged that due to flawed policies of the government, the state was facing a financial emergency. Addressing the protesters, Bajwa said, “The debt burden has only increased over the past two and a half years.” He added that no funds had been sent on developmental works in villages. “The law and order situation has worsened. The CM should accept moral responsibility and immediately resign from the post,” he said.
Rupnagar: Congress leader Rana Kunwar Pal Singh and his party workers today staged a protest against the ‘deteriorating’ law and order situation in Rupnagar and Nangal belt, outside the DSP office. “The terror of gangsters is increasing day by day. It has become very difficult to do business as the atmosphere is that of fear. Home delivery of drugs was being done all over Punjab, he said.
Rana KP, as he is known in the area, said, “Only the business of criminals is flourishing. Investors are increasingly reluctant to set up businesses in Punjab, further weakening the state’s economy.”
Fatehgarh Sahib: On the call of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, party workers today held a protest and dharnas in front of DC and SDM offices at Fatehgarh Sahib, Bassi Pathana, Amloh and Mandi Gobindgarh towns against deteriorating law and order situation in the state. They raised slogans against the AAP government.
