Congress leader, a PO, held with poppy husk

A case under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act has been registered against him.

A team of the local Proclaimed Offender (PO) staff arrested a Congress leader, Mandeep Singh Mani of Chohla Sahib, on Monday and recovered 35 kg of poppy husk and seized a country-made .32 bore pistol from his possession.

A case under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Chohla Sahib police station against him. The police said the accused was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by a local court a few months ago.

The police party, led by ASI Gurbhej Singh, had gone to arrest him when they recovered the poppy husk and the pistol from him.
