Panchkula: Congress infighting hinders candidate launch, says BJP’s Gian Chand Gupta
Haryana Assembly Speaker and BJP candidate Gian Chand Gupta will file his nomination papers on Wednesday, accompanied by top party leaders, including Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli and former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Gupta criticised the Congress party’s infighting, saying it has led to their failure to launch candidates and form alliances. He cited the failed Congress-AAP talks and the presence of four simultaneous Congress factions on the ground, led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala, and Captain Ajay Yadav.
Gupta highlighted the contrast with BJP, which has already announced 67 candidates. He expressed confidence in BJP forming the state government for the third consecutive time, citing the Congress’ disarray.
When asked about BJP leaders who have expressed dissatisfaction with being denied party tickets, Gupta said most have aired their grievances within party channels, and “efforts are being made to address their concerns and involve them in campaigning”.
Gupta’s nomination march will begin at Tawa Chowk and end at Major Sandeep Shankla Memorial, where he will file his papers.
