Congress govt stopped Jan Manch for political reasons: Jai Ram Thakur
Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said that the Congress government in the state had stopped the common man-centric Jan Manch programme for political considerations.
He said, “In a state having difficult geographical conditions, the Jan Manch was a unique programme in itself. Under the initiative, the government used to reach out people with the entire administrative staff and solve their problems on their the doorsteps. Small and big matters for which common people had to travel for several hours and hundreds of kilometres was done comfortably without any expenses while sitting at home.”
Programmes like the Jan Manch, he said, started by the previous BJP government made the government’s reach to common people easy. He added that the complaints of thousands of people were resolved in a day.
He added, “The Congress after coming to power made the Jan Manch a victim of its political agenda. It was given such names that were not even possible to say in a civilised society..”
Thakur said that 50,000 complaints were resolved on the spot at 256 Jan Manch programmes. “This saved thousands of rupees for every complainant, which they would have spent on travel and paperwork,” he added.
