Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday slammed the Central Government for the “talks” about bringing back the three controversial farm laws.

“There is talk about re-implementing the three black anti-farmer laws. The Congress party strongly opposes this”, the Congress leader said in a statement posted on his X handle.

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut recently talked about bringing back the three farm laws that were rolled back by the Modi government following protests by farmers.

Kharge said the Modi government crushed farmers under vehicles, used barbed wires and nails to restrict their movement and deployed against the farmers’ security personnel with guns and drones armed with tear gas canisters.

The 62 crore farmers of the country will never forget the atrocities, Kharge said.

Farmers of election-bound states such as Haryana will give a befitting reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who dared to call them “parasites”, Kharge said.

Kharge also accused Modi of failing to keep his promise of doubling the income of the farmers by 2022, give legal guarantee to MSP and follow the Swaminathan Report prescription while determining MSP of crops.

A government committee to dwell on the issue of MSP announced by Modi has also remained in the “cold storage”, Kharge said.
