Congress, BJP candidates file nomination in Barnala
Kuldeep Singh Dhillon, Congress candidate for the byelection to Barnala Assembly constituency, filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer-cum-SDM, Barnala, Gurbir Singh Kohli, in Barnala today. On the occasion, former Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla and Sangrur district Congress president Surinderpal Singh Sibia were also present.
Kuldip Singh Dhillon, who is a first-timer, expressed hope that the residents of Barnala would wholeheartedly support the Congress in this byelection.
The election office of Kuldeep Singh Dhillon was inaugurated today at Farwahi Bazar in Barnala. A rally was also organised.
Addressing the rally, Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Partap Singh Bajwa, flayed the AAP government over tardy paddy procurement.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate from Barnala, Kewal Singh Dhillon, today filed his nomination papers before the Returning Officer-cum-SDM, Barnala, Gurbir Singh Kohli, in the presence of former BJP minister Manoranjan Kalia and others.
Kewal Dhillon reached the DC office complex in a cavalcade with Manoranjan Kalia, Parampal Kaur Maluka and a large number of his supporters.
After filing the papers, Kewal said there was no doubt that the BJP would win the Barnala seat by a big margin. He said people of the state wanted that Punjab should be financially strong and this could be possible only with the fiscal support of the central government.
Kewal also flayed the Mann-led AAP government, saying that it had miserably “failed” on every front due to which every section of society is unhappy. He said unemployed youths were on the roads and holding protests throughout the state as there were no jobs for them.
