Congress, INLD target BJP on 'failed promises'

The ruling BJP was in the firing line of the opposition Congress and INLD today for its "failed promises" to the people despite its ambitious slogan of ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikas’.

On the third day of the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session, the “discussion on the estimates of expenditure charged on the revenue of the state” virtually proved to be Opposition’s tirade against the BJP government. Speaker Harvinder Kalyan had to remind the members to restrict themselves to the discussion on the supplementary estimates for 2024-25.

Emulate Yogi, BJP MLA’s advice to CM

Irrepressible BJP MLA from Safidon Ram Kumar Gautam asked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to emulate his UP counterpart Yogi Adityanath and adopt a hard stance against criminals, especially the gangsters.  "People will remember you for generations if you end 'goonda raj' in Haryana," Gautam said addressing Saini.

Senior Congress MLA from Nuh Aftab Ahmed flagged the issue of inordinate delay in the execution of various projects in the Mewat area by the BJP government in the last 10 years. He also raised the issue of the paltry monthly remuneration of Rs 14,000 to the doctors working under the National Health Mission (NHM).

His fellow MLA from Ferozepur Jhirka Mamman Khan alleged a lack of fire-fighting services, inadequate teachers and no provision of agriculture research institute in the Mewat area. Congress MLA from Thanesar Ashok Arora targeted the state government on the issue of poor law and order and the rising cases of drug addiction among the youth. He wanted the strengthening of the law and order infrastructure in the state.

Congress MLA from Jhajjar Geeta Bhukkal also drew the attention of the government towards government schools being closed across the state. Demanding improvement in fire services in the Jhajjar area, Bhukkal also demanded the construction of a state-of-the-art stadium in Jhajjar.

Meanwhile, Kaithal MLA Aditya Surjewala questioned the rationale behind supplementary estimates when the annual Budget for various departments was not fully utilised. He alleged that the agriculture Budget for 2022-23 was spent 31 per cent less while the Budget for this sector is set to be utilised 20-30% less for 2024-25.

INLD MLA Aditya Devilal, while demanding a memorial to Dabwali fire victims, said the petty grant of the MLAs should be hiked from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh as they had to cater to the diverse needs of the poor people in their respective assembly segments.
