Cong gave plots, scholarship to poor, BJP snatched these: Hooda
Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the Congress government had given free plots of 100 yards each to four lakh poor, Dalit and backward families for building houses and had given the highest scholarship in the country to 20 lakh poor children. But as soon as the BJP came to power, it snatched away the plots, houses and scholarships of the poor.
Addressing a public meeting organised in support of Congress candidate Dharam Singh Chhoker at the grain market in Samalkha, Hooda appealed for votes for Chokar and said he was our strong ally. “Every vote he gets will go to Bhupinder Singh Hooda and will ensure Samalkha’s big participation in the coming government. Send Dharam Singh to the Vidhan Sabha by winning with a huge majority and I promise you that I will form a Congress government in the state,” he said.
“Samalkha is a constituency which supported the Congress fully even while being in the opposition. Now that Congress is going to form the government in the state, I will try to repay Samalkha’s debt by getting development work done. We hope that this time Congress will get more support from the public than before. Congress will get record breaking work done in Samalkha when it forms the government,” he promised.
Hooda said that this time the direct contest is between Congress and BJP, and asked people to beware of vote cutters and cast your vote carefully.
“Every vote going to vote cutters will go to the BJP’s account,” he said. Former Delhi Congress state president Anil Chaudhary was also present with Hooda during this time.
Hooda said today there was a wave in favour of the Congress because the public had weighed the work of both the governments. “There was peace and prosperity in the state during the Congress rule, there was the rule of criminals and drug smugglers during the BJP rule,” he said.
“We never heard the name ‘chitta’ in Haryana, but the BJP has filled the veins of the youth with drugs by giving protection to drug smugglers. Today, more deaths are taking place in Haryana due to drugs than in Punjab,” he stated.
