Mohali, January 22
Charanjit Singh Brar, district assistant observer, Mohali, and political adviser to SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, today lodged a complaint against Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu for violation of model code of conduct.
Brar, in his complaint to the State Election Commissioner in Chandigarh, said despite the implementation of code of conduct for the MC elections to be held on February 14, Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has put up a large number of hoardings highlighting development works in Mohali city, which is a violation of model code of conduct.
He stated that Sidhu was openly violating the code of conduct as he too was well aware that when elections are declared, any party should not campaign for its development works. But the Health Minister, with the help of his brother, has put up hoardings in the city. Balbir Sidhu has fielded his brother Amarjit Singh GP Sidhu as the mayoral candidate from Ward No. 10.
He said strict action should be taken against Balbir Sidhu and the hoardings should be removed from the city as soon as possible.
