Chandigarh, August 31

Bassi claims that Ranaut misrepresented facts related to Sikh history and falsely portrayed Sikhs, creating division between communities and hurting Sikh feelings. He also alleges that Ranaut disregarded the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee’s (SGPC) resolution prohibiting the depiction of Sikh Gurus, saints and ex-Jathedars.

The court has set the next hearing date for September 17. Bassi has requested that the Chandigarh SSP to register an FIR against Ranaut under Sections 196 (1), 197(1), 302 and 299 of the BNSS, citing jurisdiction as the complainant is a devoted Sikh and the act has been circulated on social and print media, hurting Sikh sentiments.
