Commuters suffer due to road cave-in
Vehicular movement between Shillai and Paonta Sahib came to a standstill on Friday after a part of the National Highway No. 707 caved in near Kacchi Dhang. Several commuters were left stranded as the traffic flow was disrupted.
Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the affected spot. As per reports, hundreds of vehicles had been stuck, adding to the frustration of the commuters.
The district administration has been working since morning to restore the road, prioritising the safety of those stranded.
Road blockades in the region due to heavy rain and landslides have become a recurring pattern, making travel dangerous.
With the monsoon season leaving behind a trail of destruction, the latest incident of road collapse in Sirmaur district has come after relentless rain pounded the region, particularly the Paonta Sahib subdivision.
