Committed to providing assistance to Sainik School: Cabinet Minister
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Tuesday said the government was committed to the maintenance of Sainik School, Kapurthala, and would provide all possible support to this prestigious institution.
Attending the annual prize distribution ceremony of Sainik School today, he inspected the school building and instructed the officials of the Public Works Department to prepare a detailed project report for the renovation of the building.
Addressing students of the Sainik School on the occasion of the 61st annual prize distribution ceremony, the Cabinet Minister stated, “Punjab is the backbone of the country, whose brave soldiers have sacrificed their lives in the war of 1962, 1965, 1971 and 1999 to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation.” He added that for more than 60 years, Sainik School had been making a valuable contribution to the career of the children of Punjab in the Army.
Calling upon the students to strive for success with discipline and hard work, he said they must come forward to contribute significantly in the progress of Punjab and the country.
Before this, the Cabinet Minister offered floral tributes on the ‘Smriti Sthal’ and a guard of honour was presented to the minister with the band show by the students . Earlier, Group Captain Principal Madhu Sengar and other officials of the school welcomed the Cabinet Minister. She also read the annual report of the school.
On this occasion, District Planning Board Chairperson Lalit Saklani, Aam Aadmi Party joint secretary Parvinder Singh Dhot, Kanwar Iqbal Singh, Member, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Punjab, SDM Major Irwin Kaur, Harpal Singh Pannu, Chief Agriculture Officer, Col Varinder Salaria, Wing Commander and Vice-Principal Deepka Rawat, Lt Col JB Singh and XEN Vishal were present.
