Commission agent shot in Kurukshetra
A man was killed after two assailants opened fire at him at the Ismailabad grain market in Kurukshetra on Saturday evening.
The deceased, who was identified as Harbilas Singh of Ambala, used to work as a commission agent at the grain market. He is the father of Congress leader Harbir Singh Mahal.
According to information, Harbilas was leaving from the grain market when the two motorcycle-borne youths opened fire on him, leaving him severely injured. The accused managed to flee from the spot.
The victim then was rushed to MM Hospital in Ambala, from where he was referred to PGI Chandigarh. He was later taken to a private hospital in Panchkula, where the doctors declared him dead. A post-mortem examination was conducted in Ambala on Sunday.
A case has been registered at the Ismailabad police station. It is being suspected that Harbilas had a monetary and land dispute with someone. According to the complainant, the suspect had also threatened him of dire consequences outside the Pehowa court.
Ismailabad police station SHO Rajesh Kumar said, “A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint received. In the complaint, suspicion has been raised on a person with whom the deceased had some monetary dispute for the last two years. The matter is under investigation. Teams of the police and the CIA are working on the case and efforts are being made to nab the accused.”
