Commercial activities at Minjar fair extended till Aug 13
Chamba, August 10
Commercial activities, which are part of the International Minjar fair, at the Chamba’s Chowgan ground will continue till August 13. Following an order from the High Court, the local administration has extended the deadline for these activities, bringing relief to the traders participating in the fair. Initially, the commercial activities at the fair were scheduled to conclude on August 10, with the disconnection of the temporary electricity supply to the stalls.
The entire Chowgan area was to be cleared by August 11. However, traders petitioned the High Court, requesting an extension until August 13, arguing that they had travelled from the farthest corners of the country to participate in the fair and that the time allotted for their businesses was insufficient.
Meanwhile, as the final days of the fair approach, a significant crowd has been flocking the stalls. On Saturday, a large number of villagers came to shop at the fair. In addition to the main commercial dome, traders have set up stalls in front of the stage, attracting enthusiastic shoppers. This year, the fair began on July 28 and concluded on August 4. — OC
