School notes: Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula
The school hosted the much-anticipated ‘LAAM EXPORAMA 2024’. Over 150 students from 23 schools from across the tricity and North India participated in the event, fostering a spirit of healthy competition. The highlight of the event was the school’s initiative of bringing about a change in the society, through the ‘Change Maker Confluence’ held on Day-1. Day-2 witnessed a blend of competitions, including ‘Quantum Quill Challenge’, ‘Visual Vibes’, ‘Voice For Change’, ‘Heritage Artistry’, ‘3D Poster-making’, and ‘Roots & Rhythm’. The event concluded on the third day with ‘Roots & Rhythm’, a vibrant folk-dance competition, followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
Holy Mary’s School, Banur
The school marked Children’s Day with an unforgettable celebration, filling the school with excitement and laughter. Teachers led a special assembly, acting as ‘students’ for an entertaining skit that delighted the young learners. The festivities continued with the distribution of sweets. Principal Shiny Devassy congratulated the staff for their enthusiasm and dedication in creating such a memorable celebration for the children.
Jainendra Public School, Panchkula
‘Hubs of learning’ was organised at the school auditorium. Four schools participated in the event and each was designated a state. The first prize was bagged by Moti Ram School (Haryana) and second was bagged by Blue Bird High School (Gujarat). A special prize was announced for Bhawan Vidyalaya for outstanding props, representing Himachali culture.
Guru Harkrishan School, Dera Bassi
The school celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm. Students took to the stage to present a variety of performances, including speeches, songs and dances, showcasing their talents and vibrant spirit. The highlight of the event was a delightful surprise performance by the teachers, and Principal who took to the stage to present an energetic dance and song, adding an extra spark to the day’s celebrations. In her address, Principal Kavita Atri expressed appreciation for the students’ efforts, reminding them of their unique potential and encouraging them to embrace learning with curiosity and determination.
St Xavier’s International School, Zirakpur
The school hosted its annual sports day, bringing together students from Pre-Nursery to Class X. The event commenced with an electrifying marchpast by senior students of all the four houses of the school, followed by sports captain’s oath. The sports meet was declared open by Principal Mervin West after releasing colourful balloons into the sky. The two-day event featured a variety of activities, with carefully coordinated drills that showcased students discipline and teamwork. Among the highlights were the colourful umbrella drill, synchronised dumbbell drill and beautifully presented saree drill by girls, which demonstrated hard work and dedication of all the students.
Sggsc Public School, Chandigarh
The school hosted the 6th edition of SGGSMUN. The opening ceremony started with a lighting of the lamp ceremony, followed by Saraswati Vandana. Dr Satish Sharma, deputy director of CSIO—CSIR graced the event. The closing ceremony was graced by chief guest, Col Jasmer Singh Bala, secretary, Sikh Educational Society. Principal Amanpreet Kaur and the chief guest felicitated the winners. This event honed communication skills, analytical understanding and critical thinking of the students.
