Cockroach found in meal served on Air India flight
A passenger on an Air India flight from Delhi to New York found a cockroach in the meal served onboard.
The passenger, travelling on flight AI 101 on September 17, took to social media to report the issue, sharing images and a video of the food items.
In a post on X, the passenger revealed that the insect was discovered in an omelette she and her two-year-old child had partially consumed, resulting in food poisoning.
‘My 2 year old finished more than half of it with me when we found this. Suffered from food poisoning as a result,” she said, tagging Air India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu.
The post prompted a response from the airline. An Air India spokesperson acknowledged the incident and expressed concern over the passenger’s experience.
“We are aware of a social media post by a passenger regarding a foreign object in the onboard meal offered to them on AI 101 operating from DEL to JFK on 17 September 2024. The matter has been taken up with the catering service provider to investigate further. We will take necessary actions to prevent any recurrence of such instances in future,” the airline said in an official statement.
Air India added that it collaborates with globally reputed caterers and follows strict protocols to ensure the quality and safety of onboard meals.
