Coaching Centre deaths: Court seeks CBI response on co-owners’ bail petition
New Delhi, September 5
Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to respond to the bail pleas of four co-owners of a basement in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three IAS aspirants tragically died on July 27. The court will further hear the case on Sept 11.
The four co-owners of the basement—Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh and Sarbjit Singh—who are currently in custody, have sought bail from the HC arguing that they were only landlords of the property which had been rented out to the coaching centre. They contended that they were not involved in the tragic incident in any way. Their previous bail applications were rejected by the sessions court, which cited the early stages of the CBI investigation and the need to determine the specific roles of each accused. — TNS
