On the eve of Dussehra, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday announced the release of 4 per cent dearness allowance instalment from January 1, 2023.

The Chief Minister also announced the clearance of pending medical bills of the government employees with immediate effect and the clearance of all arrears of pensioners over 75 years of age.

The Chief Minister announced that the salary and pension for the month of October would be paid on October 28, instead of in November.

“In view of Diwali, the government has decided to pay the salary and pension for the month of October in October itself,” the Chief Minister said.

In the past couple of months, the government has been disbursing salary and pension a little late to save Rs 3 crore that is spent as interest on the salary and pension amount.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister stressed that the financial condition of the state is fine. “In contrast to what the opposition is trying to project, our financial condition is all right. We are trying to bring in fiscal prudence to make our state self-reliant and the most prosperous state by 2031,” the Chief Minister said.
