Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu lays stones of solar power plant, fisheries training centre

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today laid the foundation stones of a 5 MW solar power plant at Bhanjal village and a state-of-the art fisheries training centre at Deoli village of the Gagret Assembly segment in Una district. He said that Rs 31 crore would be spent on setting up the solar power plant while the fisheries training centre would come up at a cost of Rs 5.17 crore.
Sukhu, while addressing a public gathering, said that HP Power Corporation Ltd was constructing the solar power project on nine hectares and it would be commissioned in the next eight months. Once commissioned, the project would generate 10.54 million units of power every year, bringing in an annual revenue of Rs 3.82 crore and helping in reducing 396 tonne of carbon emission every year.
He said that Una district would generate 45 MW solar electricity in the coming times. He added that a 32 MW solar power plant built at a cost of Rs 220 crore at Pekhubela village of the district was commissioned recently while the foundation stone of another solar power project to be set up at a cost of Rs 67.82 crore was laid in the Kutlehar Assembly segment.
The Chief Minister said that the state government had set a target to make Himachal Pradesh a green state by March 31, 2026. He added that the government was also striving towards making Himachal a self-reliant state. He claimed that Rs 300 crore had been provided to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation for purchasing electric buses and efforts were on to convert the entire fleet of diesel buses to e-buses.
Sukhu said that the nine Assembly byelections forced on the state by the BJP had an adverse effect on the pace of development but the government would take remedial steps to accelerate it.
The Chief Minister inspected the site for the fisheries training centre at Deoli village. Gagret MLA Rakesh Kalia also spoke on the occasion. MLAs Sanjay Rattan, Sudarshan Babloo and Vivek Sharma were also present.
