Chandigarh: Two cases have been registered against nightclubs for alleged violation of the District Magistrate’s order. The UT police booked the owners of Play Boy Club, Industrial Area, for opening the club beyond the permissible time on November 27. A case has been registered against Nikhil, Shubham, Karan, Laddi and Minhas Sidhu, all partners of the club, under Section 188 of the IPC at the Industrial Area police station. In another case, the police found a hookah being served to customers at a club in Sector 26 on November 30, following which a case was registered against Parbhat Saini at the Sector 26 police station. 4,826 disability cards made

Mohali: As many as 4,826 unique identity cards have been issued to the persons with disabilities. Persons with disabilities can register themselves online or at the nearest Sewa Kendras. TNS

Water storage augmentation

Chandigarh: UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore will lay the foundation stone for the augmentation of water storage capacity at the Sector 39 waterworks on Friday. The much-delayed project will be carried out for Rs37 crore. With this project, the water storage capacity will be upgraded from 45 to 90 million gallons per day (MGD) at the Sector 39 waterworks reservoir, which receives water supply from the Kajauli waterworks. 591 appliances for PWDs

Chandigarh: A three-day camp by the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, UT, started on Wednesday for the distribution of aids and appliances among ‘divyangjans’, in association with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23. The camp is to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The Administrator announced that 591 aids and appliances, including artificial limbs, motorised tri-cycles, wheelchairs, smart canes, smart phones, daisy players and Braille kits would distributed for free among 328 beneficiaries. 72-yr-old hangs himself to death

Mohali: Kashmiri Lal (72), a resident of Phase 7, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Phase 7 on Wednesday afternoon. He was suffering from a cervical disease. The victim hanged himself from a ladder on the roof of his house. He is survived by his son and daughter. TNS
