Amritsar, July 19
President of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, chaired a meeting to discuss the preparations for the 68th World Sikh Educational Conference here on Thursday. An annual event hosted by CKD, featuring eminent Sikh scholars, thinkers and academicians, the event will be held in November this year.
Jathedar, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh along with CKD office-bearers and members participated in the meeting to discuss the schedule. Dr Nijjar, the president of the event, said that the main objective of the World Sikh Educational Conference to be held at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 21-23 this year is to make people aware of Punjabi language in the light of modern educational tools. “Punjabi as a language should be given due respect so that people can be made aware of its rich heritage, literature and culture. Now that many Punjabis are making their mark globally and as more people from Punjab migrate, the language should be promoted through literary and cultural discourse,” said Dr Nijjer.
