Choose public transport to reduce congestion: Delhi Metro to public
With the onset of the festive season, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is urging residents to choose public transport in an effort to reduce congestion and curb air pollution.
Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, emphasised the importance of sustainable travel during this time of heightened activity.
In the anticipation of increased demand and the potential implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) due to rising pollution levels, the DMRC plans to run additional train trips. When GRAP Stage-II is activated, 40 extra trips will be scheduled on weekdays across all Metro lines. Should GRAP Stage-III or higher be enforced, an additional 20 trips will be added, bringing the total to 60 extra trips on weekdays.
Dayal said, “This initiative will enable the public to travel long distances without exposure to air pollution. By choosing public transport, we can alleviate road congestion and contribute to a cleaner environment.”
The festive season often leads to heavy traffic and longer travel times, making public transport a more convenient and stress-free option.
