Child, mother die after being hit by truck in Phillaur

The truck driver fled the spot immediately after the crash, say police

A mother-son duo was killed after a speeding truck hit them while they were walking along the roadside near Shamshabad on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

According to officials, the victim identified as Gurpreet Kaur (26) and his two-year-old son, were hit by the truck after the driver lost control over the vehicle. They died on the spot.

The truck driver fled the spot immediately after the crash, they added.

Police said efforts are being made to trace the driver and a case has been registered.
