Chief Justice Rao bid farewell on transfer to Jharkhand High Court
A farewell was organised in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh today in the honour of outgoing Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao on his transfer as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
Justice MS Ramachandra Rao was born on August 7, 1966, at Hyderabad. He topped in B.Sc (Hons) Mathematics at Osmania University, Hyderabad. He passed LL.B from the University College of Law, Osmania University in 1989 and was awarded the CVSS Acharyulu Gold Medal for securing the highest marks.
He enrolled as an advocate on September 7, 1989. He secured the LL.M degree from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 1991. He was also awarded the Pegasus Scholarship by the Scholarship Trust, Inner Temple, London. He practised law in the area of Civil Law, Arbitration, Company Law, Administrative and Constitutional Law, Labour and Service Law.
Justice MS Ramachandra Rao was elevated as a judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on June 29, 2012. He was appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court for the state of Telangana with effect from August 31, 2021. He was later transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court and he assumed charge there on October 12, 2021. He was transferred as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh on May 30, 2023.
Justice MS Ramachandra Rao was presented the Guard of Honour. The judges of the High Court, namely Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua and Justice Satyen Vaidya, Justice Sushil Kukreja, Justice Virender Singh, Justice Ranjan Sharma, Justice Bipin Chander Negi and Justice Rakesh Kainthla were present on the occasion. Senior advocates and other members of the Bar Association, Registrar General, other registrars, officers and staff of the High Court Registry were also present.
