AAP: BJP blocking event at Chirag Delhi
- The AAP on Monday accused the BJP of conspiring to halt Chhath Puja at Satpula Park in Chirag Delhi
- He challenged Bansuri Swaraj to swear if she believed the festival had not been held at Satpula Park for the past eight years. “If she says it under oath, I’ll drop this matter,” Bharadwaj said
- The AAP leader further stated, “The individuals seen standing with Bansuri Swaraj in a photo she tweeted are not members of the Purvanchali community; they are BJP workers. I personally know them. They are spreading a false narrative to stop Chhath Puja.”
CM Atishi said, “The Delhi government is committed to ensuring that there are no shortcomings in the preparations for Chhath Mahaparv. Ministers, MLAs, and all departments are inspecting Chhath Ghats across the city.”
She said that since the formation of Arvind Kejriwal’s government, Chhath Pooja had been given the respect it deserves, something no other government had done before. “Until 2014, only 60 sites across Delhi were designated by the Delhi government for Chhath ghats. The AAP government constructed over 1,000 Chhath ghats across the city, with government overseeing all arrangements,” she stated.
The CM said that the Chhath ghat at ITO was one of Delhi’s most important sites for Chhath Puja “The ghats have been equipped with amenities like artificial ponds, tents, lighting, clean surroundings and enhanced security measures,” CM added.
