Chargesheet against man for cheating retired JCO
The Jammu Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet in the court for judicial determination against an accused for duping a retired Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army on the pretext of providing government job to his daughter.
A case was initially registered on the written complaint lodged by retired subedar Mohd Zahid, a resident of Ujhan in Rajouri district, against Bashir Ahmed Dar belonging to Budgam district.
The complainant had alleged that on January 30, 2023, he received a phone call and the caller introduced himself as an officer of the J&K Service Selection Board, who could manage a government teacher job for his daughter. He asked Zahid to deposit money in his bank account, which the complainant complied.
However, he said the accused neither managed a government job for the daughter of the complainant nor did he return the money..
“Subsequently, the investigation was transferred to the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch and during investigation, the caller was identified as a prematurely retired IRP official, namely Bashir Ahmed Dar of Budgam district, who had committed cheating by impersonation and duped retired JCO of his hard earned money.
“The accused was arrested after series of raids at different places in Kashmir Valley. The investigation has been completed, offences of cheating by impersonation and cheating for wrongful gain has been proved against him,” an official of crime branch said.
