An 82-year-old woman, a resident of Panchkula’s Sector 15, was duped of Rs 60,000 when she went to an ATM near her house to withdraw cash for herself.

According to complainant Usha Chopra, she went to an ATM in Sector 15 market, Panchkula, to withdraw

Rs 5,000 on Tuesday afternoon. “After withdrawing money, a young man, who was standing behind me there, started talking to me. He managed to swap my debit card with his. He withdrew Rs 60,000 from my account using my card. On receiving message on my mobile phone about amount being debited from my account, I immediately went to the bank and got my debit card blocked,” the complainant said.

The police have registered a case under Sections 316 (2) and 318 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and started an investigation into the matter.
