Vietnam to establish its consulate in Chandigarh

In order to cater to north Indian states, including Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the Republic of Vietnam will soon establish its consulate in Chandigarh to promote mutual cooperation in trade and tourism, Pham Sanh Chau, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, said while speaking at a press conference during his three-day visit being hosted by the Honorary Consulate General of Vietnam in Chandigarh, Davinder Singh Thapar.
Mulls direct flight to city beautiful
- Pham Sanh Chau, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, said their government was trying to start a direct flight from the Chandigarh airport to the Hanoi for better connectivity between the two countries.
Chau said Vietnam was keen on building a positive relationship with India. He hoped that with bilateral mutualism, trade and tourism could attain new heights.
He said the Indian population in Vietnam was mostly associated with the oil, hospitality, mining and education sectors.
North Indians’ investment in Vietnam would prove vital for them.
Chau said the Government of Vietnam was trying to start a direct flight from the Chandigarh airport to the capital of Vietnam for better connectivity between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Thapar said Punjab and Haryana had emerged as an important market in the trade and tourism sector with Vietnam in the past few years.
