Utensil seller hit by truck, killed
Panchkula: A utensil seller from Abheypur was killed after being hit by a speeding truck near the Surajpur bus stand on the Panchkula-Kalka highway while he was pulling his cart from the “kisan mandi” in Kalka to his home. The incident took place on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Chandan Gupta, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, where doctors declared him brought dead. Sunil Kumar, a fellow professional, who was just behind the victim when the incident took place, told the police that the truck, bearing a Himachal Pradesh registration number, hit the victim, tossing him into the air. He fell on the ground and was rendered consciousness. Passersby gathered at the spot. The truck driver fled from the spot. TNS
GMSSS-22 claim twin titles
Chandigarh: Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, won two titles on the concluding day of the State Sepak Takraw Championship. In the girls’ subjunior doubles event, the Sector 22 team defeated Ryan School 2-0 and in the girls’ senior category, the Sector 22 recorded a 2-0 win over the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42. Ryan International School, Sector 49, claimed the overall trophy. In the boys’ junior Regu final, Ryan School defeated DMC Club 2-0 and in the boys’ junior doubles event, DMC (B) team beat DMC (C) 2-0. Diwank wins gold in bodybuilding
Chandigarh: Chandigarh’s Diwank Gupta won gold in the 80kg weight category and also the title of Junior Mr Universe (overall Champion 2022). He was selected to participate in the Junior Mr Universe Body Building Championship to be held in Pune (Maharashtra) from April 15 to 17.
