UT Cricket Association holds annual general meeting
The 44th annual general meeting of the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), Chandigarh, was held recently. During the meeting, UTCA president Sanjay Tandon said during the last season 2023-24, a total of 1,400 players got registered against the 2,820 registered in 2024-25. He appreciated the conduct of the recent Gully Cricket Tournament, which has been registered in the Asia Book of Records.
Last year, the UTCA selectors shortlisted 35 players and after this edition, as many as 50 players have been selected. This year a total of 3,072 players from 302 teams participated in the tournament, informed Tandon. He said last season the UTCA had participated in 91 matches of 15 different tournaments. Despite the rain-interrupted matches, the performance of the teams was satisfactory, he claimed.
For the upcoming BCCI domestic season, Tandon said the UTCA would be hosting a total of 59 matches. “To make the performance of the teams more effective, emphasis has been laid on fitness and training. By organising regular camps, the support staff are making their strong points more effective and working on their weak points,” added Tandon.
Apart from camps, the UTCA has provided exposure to the players through inter-state friendly matches. Earlier, UTCA’s secretary Devender Sharma presented the annual report of the association while treasurer Alok Krishan presented the account details.
