It’s really surprising to know about a feud between two students groups in a hostel of Punjab University on Friday injuring three students. Why students don’t understand the fact that they have been sent to the campus for studying and not for indulging into violent activities? Students elect their leaders in elections not for creating ruckus and nuisance on the campus but for ensuring welfare of the students with positive efforts and coordination in between students and authorities. The authorities concerned, including the DSW must act strictly against such violators of law and take disciplinary action against them to set an example for others. Also, the authorities should position its own security personnel on all the sensitive positions such as hostels, academic blocks, eating joints, parks, etc round-the-clock for ensuring discipline and safety on the campus. CCTV cameras should be installed on all the listed locations with proper recording facilities and continuous monitoring arrangements. A control room should be set up in the campus to keep a watch on all the activities going on in the campus. Violence should have no place in university campuses as it’s a place of imparting knowledge and education not for violence and bloodshed.

Beware of online fraudsters

Its highly disturbing to learn that three more persons in the city have fallen prey to the online fraud and were duped to the tune of Rs 3.80 lakh. Significantly, one of the complainants’, Umakant Tewari, who had reported that an unknown person called him posing as a bank executive from State Bank of India, Sector 9, Chandigarh, is understood to be the personal secretary to the MP Kirron Kher. All those interested to carry out online banking transactions, must always carefully watch the RBI’s social awakening programme titled ‘RBI Kaihta Hai’ (RBI Says..) being shown on the news channels. This clearly provides some very useful tips for the benefit of common man. Moreover, it also regularly publishes the relevant information in newspapers. Since safety alone saves, so never ever share your personal banking details with the strangers, always remains the key watch word.
