Two lives snuffed out as speeding car rams into tipper truck in Kharar

Two passengers were killed while the driver was critically injured when the car that they were travelling in hit a moving tipper truck from behind at the PR-9 Road near Sector 125, Kharar.

Two victims, who were in their early twenties, died on the spot.

According to the information, the mishap took place around noon. The car driver also suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to the Phase-6 Civil Hospital for treatment.

When the police reached the spot, the car was found on the Kharar-Mullanpur road near a filling station. Eyewitnesses said the car’s speedometer needle was at 140kmph.

Investigating officer Raj Kumar said, “The victims have not been identified as no document has been found in the car. The mobile phones of the victims are locked.”

Cops are also probing whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol as beer bottles were found near the spot.

The deceased’s bodies have been placed in the mortuary at the Kharar Civil Hospital.
