Two brothers lose Rs 20L in Army job fraud
Two brothers from Panchkula were duped of Rs 20 lakh on the pretext of jobs in the Indian Army under sports quota.
A case has been registered against the suspect, Arun Kumar.
Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Ramgarh in Panchkula, stated that he had been preparing to join the Indian Army after passing class 12.
He said he met the suspect, Arun Kumar, in November last year who claimed that he was an Indian Army personnel. Dheeraj stated that the man told him that he was in the city on a secret mission. He offered Dheeraj to assist him in participating in international sports events abroad to land a job in the Indian Army under the sports quota.
Dheeraj said he and his brother Abhishek fell for the trick and paid him Rs 20 lakh, including Rs 6 lakh in cash. The complainant stated that the fraudster took the money and failed to honour the commitment. When asked to return the money, the suspect threatened to get the complainant’s family killed. “He also took our passports,” Dheeraj said.
A case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Arun Kumar.
